Designed to Sail Off Around the World in Search of Adventure and Enlightenment

The Horizon V68 Answers the Question: How Large Can a Small Boat Go?

It was a design inspired by a Bucket List question, really. Who hasn’t been struck by the stories of the couples or young families who sell their land-based belongings, step aboard a boat and sail off around the world in search of adventure and enlightenment? A collaborative design nearly nine years in the making, the concept for the Horizon V68 was sparked by one question: What is the largest yacht that two people or a small family can comfortably and safely run themselves?

To facilitate adventures of Bucket List proportion, Horizon worked with Christian Stimson of Stimson Yacht Design on the naval architecture and hull design of this new yacht. The result? A 66’ 1” waterline culminating in a vertical bow, facilitating minimal drag at lower displacement speeds and affording an 800nm range at 9 knots.

In addition to ensuring long-range capability and efficiency, the V68’s hull design also lent itself to a beautifully styled exterior, executed by Jonathan Quinn Barnett, who also created the spaces within a spacious interior, which takes full advantage of the 19’ 5” beam. A spacious 11’ cockpit welcomes visitors through the folding glass doors into the beamy salon, which leads to a country kitchen-style galley forward. The bridge – either open or enclosed – features a day head, grill, and entertainment areas while additional lounging areas are situated forward and aft. The interior volume is most apparent, however, in the lower deck accommodations comprised of a forward VIP, master stateroom aft, and convertible twin amidships.

As with every Horizon yacht, customization is encouraged, and V68 owners are offered the option of an open or enclosed bridge, four-stateroom layout, or main salon with a lower helm station. Twin Caterpillar C18 Acerts power the V68 to just over 25 knots with an 18-knot cruising speed and she is fitted with optional ABT-Trac stabilizers, stern thrusters and standard bow thruster for additional comfort and maneuverability. Owner/operators will also enjoy the systems integration and mobile device interfaces for monitoring. For those whose Bucket List needs addressing, the Horizon V68 has been purposefully designed to facilitate the journey.
